Can you reduce your risk of erectile dysfunction?
Engaging in regular physical activity is good for your heart and your figure. But do you know a little sport also reduces your risk of suffering from erectile dysfunction? A U.S. study says even he is never too late to do!
Stress, depression, hypertension, diabetes ... the causes of erectile dysfunction are multiple. If we know quite well the guilty, it is difficult to know how to preserve sexual vitality. U.S. researchers suggest a track.
Lace up your sneakers!
Keep fit, stop smoking, not drinking too much alcohol and watch your diet! These tips punctuate most items that you intend to take charge of your health ... sometimes in vain. But gentlemen, a new study * could help you find other sources of motivation.
U.S. researchers have examined whether changes in lifestyle could reduce the risk of developing erectile dysfunction. To get inside the net, they interviewed 1 709 men aged 40 to 70 years between 1987 and 1989, then conducted a second interview of 1 156 men between 1995 and 1997. Among this sample, 593 men were found to present erectile dysfunction.
Results: Stop smoking and alcohol withdrawal does not appear to significantly reduce the risk of erectile dysfunction. Similarly, overweight men also had more risk of problems regardless of the number of pounds gained or lost. If behavioral changes may occur too late after the quarantine to counteract the deleterious effects on erectile function, they retain indisputable benefits for the health of your heart, your liver or your lungs.
Conversely, men who remained active or had even started physical activity later showed less risk of impotence.
It is never too late to do
Moreover, a direct relationship between the intensity of physical activity and lowering the risk was even observed. At any age, initiating physical activity can still reduce the risk of erectile dysfunction.
"The men who burned more than 200 kcalories in physical activity per day, had the lowest risk of erectile dysfunction" said Professor Goldstein, who led the study. To get a clearer picture, that physical exercise is a sustained march of three miles.
"This is the first study demonstrating that exercise, which is beneficial for cardiovascular health, has also sexual function. The implications are enormous!" even adds Professor Goldstein. Men concerned about their masculinity today have good reason to (re) develop sport!
What this study does not commit you to push more good resolutions later, the adoption as soon as possible to a healthy lifestyle is the best approach to reduce the risk of erectile dysfunction.
