Every day, we confront a number of myths related to food and sometimes we have a thought that are grandma's advice do have something to do with science. Well! They are most of the time are falsified by science but they still are hollering around our lives.

Today we find foods with labels and they actually do no good but drag us in to confusions. You must be aware of the labels telling you "low-fat" and "baked-not fried". They are just keeping up the look as they are low-down in unhealthy components while filled with healthy stuff. But the question here is what the exact meaning of the labels is? which keeps on catching our eyes.

Let us make our start with the "reduce fat" label. What does this actually means? This doesn't mean that you are going to buy a product with low fat they just have 25 percent less fat than the full fat version of the same product. So don't buy them thinking they would have low fat. They actually have enough fat to be avoided.

One more thing to be added here is the reduce fat or low fat products are lowered in energies but they come with added taste. So, you need to find the content of the added taste as well. Due to this addition the calories are most of the time are increased then the full fat product.

Now comes the label for "baked- not fried". If you are going to buy some snacks which are claiming to be baked, not fried then be informed they may not actually have low fat as compared to the fried ones. They actually have high fats in them. Baking and frying is not the thing which makes things lower in fat or high. The method of cooking them has nothing to do with fat of the product.

One more common myth is "craob is lower in fat then chocolate". Carob is no way a substitute for chocolate. The only difference which has resulted in the myth is the absence of caffeine and dairy in Craob.

Another and horrible myth about food is "chickens are grown on feed which is full of hormones to make them bigger without taking much time." There is no truth in this as well. Chickens in Americas are not fed on hormone feed. So? no worries.

Food is better "fresh" but the problem is there are chances that food places in grocery store are kept fresh using cold storage and carbon dioxide and ethylene oxide. So, fresh or canned, food can be better if cooked better.

Vegetarian food can be better food but it is not true. There are many vegetarian dishes that come with load of fat. In fact the best low fat food is "red-meat" in case you have removed lean and visible fat from it and have cooked following.

There are many food myths which are after being falsified by science are still are alive and we are blindly following them.
